GPS4Kids Data Hub

Defined as:

Westchester County teenagers and young adults between ages 16-24 who are neither working, nor in school. U.S. Census only measures ages 16-19.

GPS4Kids Reflections:

The Westchester County disconnected youth rate was at 10.8% for ages 16-24 at the time of the 2018 GPS4Kids Baseline Report.

Youth and young adults are still growing and developing mentally, physically, and emotionally. Positive engagement with mentors remains important, especially for youth who have been, or continue to be system-involved.

Ideal outcome(s):

All outcomes from the Dreams Deferred Report will be executed and sustained. Pipelines of support are in place for youth ages 16-24 as they navigate personal, educational, and employment-related challenges.

Actions & outcome progress:

We will begin by reviewing the 2014 Dreams deferred report. WCA has been successful in meeting several goals set forth in the 2013 report.

We have supported successful passing of DACA and the Raise the Age New York campaign. Under new local and national administrations, GPS4Kids and WCA will continue to follow progress in these areas.

Through GPS4kids, we have the mechanism with which we will continue to enhance cross systems collaboration, and engage young people in planning & decision making.
