GPS4Kids Data Hub

Defined as:

A child that misses 15 or more school days per year, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

In our 2018 Baseline Report, 13% of the Westchester County population was considered chronically absent.

GPS4Kids Reflections:

Excessive absence limits the amount of time spent in the traditional learning environment of public schools. School absence negatively affects learning outcomes for all students and data shows it disproportionately impacts students of color.

GPS4Kids is committed to lowering the rate of chronic absence for all students and eliminating any race-based inequities for learning outcomes.

Ideal outcome(s):

All districts in Westchester have a chronic absence rate below 13% (the county-wide rate at the time of the 2018 GPS4Kids Baseline Report).

Actions & outcome progress:

The Westchester County chronic absence average increased by 1% since the 2018 Baseline Report.
