One of the unexpected benefits of getting pregnant and having a baby is that you suddenly become very interesting to companies selling pregnancy and baby products. And if you like free stuff, then your luck is in.

You'll find a range of brands clamouring to give you freebies – as long as you're happy to hand them your email address and other details. How much personal data you're required to hand over varies from brand to brand (and we'll explain exactly what below), and the goodies you receive vary in quantity and quality, too.

On offer in 2021, we've found goody bags for pregnancy, newborn and older kids, free nappies, free soothers, free wipes, free hair and body wash – and more.

We've taken a good look at the freebies that come in each goody bag or offer package – and what you need to hand over to get them – so you can decide which ones are most useful for you...

What do I need to know before I sign up for freebies?

If you’re happy to give brands your details, do be prepared to be marketed at (hey, nothing is totally for free!) with lots of emails – and possibly texts and mailouts, too.

And do check carefully all the opt-out tick boxes to see whether you’re agreeing to your data being passed on to other companies (often referred to as "interested third parties"), who could then start marketing at you, too.

You may want to consider setting up a special, separate "freebies" email address, where all these marketing emails can land.

Here's our guide to best pregnancy, baby and toddler freebies and free samples

1. Bounty packs

bounty pack freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

The Mum-to Be pack is aimed at pregnant women. Bounty also offer a Newborn pack (only available in hospitals) and a Growing Family pack (for when your baby is older). We'll update you on the contents of the Newborn pack and the Growing Family pack as soon as we can.

What you get in a Bounty Mum-to-Be Pack?

The samples can change across the year (Bounty says they usually run each sample for a 3 to 12-month period) but here’s a taste of what to expect:

  • Bounty buying guide
  • £20 voucher for Beaming Baby products
  • 10% discount for Pregnacare products
  • 10g Sudocrem Baby Care Cream sample

How do you get Bounty Packs?

You get the Mum-To-Be Pack by downloading Bounty's app. Once you're signed up to the app, you can arrange to pick up the pack from up from your local Boots, ASDA or Tesco store, within 20 mins of pressing the 'redeem now' button inside the app. We suggest you are already at the shop and have asked if the Bounty Pack you want to redeem is available. For us, it took visits to 3 different branches of Boots to be able to redeem the Mum-To-Be Pack.

What data do you hand over to Bounty?

When you download the app (for free) and then sign up to receive the Bounty pack, you will be required to supply to Bounty:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your date of birth
  • How many children you have
  • Answers to 2 survey questions about the nappies you buy and where you buy them from
  • Your agreement to Bounty's terms and conditions

You’ll also be asked but not required to answer:

  • Whether or not you’re trying to conceive
  • Whether or not you’re pregnant and, if you are, what your due date is

And you’ll be asked if you want to opt-in to:

  • regular emails from Bounty
  • emails from 3rd party companies

How useful is the Bounty Mum-to-Be pack?

Things seem to have changed quite a lot over the past few years and it has to be said that the Mum-To-Be Pack we collected from a very large Boots in Central London was disappointing small, compared to Bounty packs we've had look at before.

More like this

The only properly useful item was the sample of Sudocrem, which is often used as a nappy cream but and also be used during pregnancy to soothe itchy or stretchmark-prone skin.

The Pregnacare discount code could be welcome, if Pregnacare is your preferred antenatal vitamin. Ditto the £20 Beaming Baby voucher – useful if you're planning to purchase items on their website – but do read the small print, as conditions apply.

The Bounty Buying Guide was interesting to look through but didn't feature many of the the most popular baby travel systems.

2. Emma’s Diary packs

emmas diary freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Like Bounty, Emma's Diary offers a Mum-To-Be pack. It also offers 2 other freebie bags once you've had your baby: the Bump To Baby pack and the New Family pack.

What do you get in an Emma’s Diary pack?

Again, the contents vary and change fairly frequently but in ours we found the following:

In the Mum-To-Be Pack:

  • Pack of 7 Pregnacare Original tablets
  • 2 WaterWipes samples
  • 10ml Palmer's Olive Oil Formula Smoothing Shampoo sample
  • 5ml Gyntima Stretch Mark eEmulsion sample
  • Pre-eclampsia information leaflet
  • ShopandScan information leaflet
  • 10% discount for Pregnacare products

In the Bump To Baby Pack:

  • 10ml Palmer's Olive Oil Formula Smoothing Shampoo sample
  • 20ml Palmer's Stretch Marks Massage Lotion sample
  • 20ml Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil sample
  • Aqua Wipes sample
  • 120ml Zoflora Midnight Blooms Concentrated Disinfectant sample
  • Mumsurvey leaflet
  • ShopandScan information leaflet
  • Future Health Biobank information leaflet
  • 10% discount for Pregnacare products

In the New Family Pack:

  • 20ml Palmer's Stretch Marks Massage Lotion sample
  • 20ml Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil sample
  • 15g Palmer's Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks sample
  • 20p voucher for Aquafresh Milk Teeth toothbrush
  • 15ml Aquafresh Milk Teeth toothpaste sample
  • 20g Bepathen Nappy Care Ointment sample
  • Shepherds Friendly information leflet with voucher code worth up to £50
  • ShopandScan information leaflet
  • Skin+Me voucher for 1 month of free skincare
  • 10% discount for Pregnacare products

How do you get Emma’s Diary packs?

You can get the vouchers for all 3 bags by downloading the Emma's Diary app. Once you are signed up, the vouchers will be available via the My Free Packs section and can be redeemed at branches of Argos or Boots.

As with Bounty, we would recommend you wait to hit 'redeem' on the app until you have actually checked your shop of choice has them in stock, as it took us several different attempts in Central London stores to get ours.

What data do you hand over to Emma's Diary?

When you download the app (for free) and then sign up to receive the packs, you will be required to supply to Emma's Diary:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your date of birth
  • Whether or not you are pregnant and, if you are, your due date
  • How many children you have

How useful are the Emma's Diary packs?

While some of the products are doubled up across the 3 bags (eg Palmer's Stretch Marks cream in our bags), we found the samples to be useful at all stages of pregnancy and parenthood.

It was good to see, in the Mums-to-Be pack, not only a Pregnacare discount code but also a 7-pill sample of their tablets. We also like the other little samples: the Water Wipes and the Palmer's Olive Oil Shampoo went straight into our hospital bag for the big day…

In the Bump-To-Baby pack, we were particularly impressed with the generous size of the Zoflora sample. And the New Family pack has a nice balance between the baby's needs and the parent's needs, with Bepanthen and the milk teeth toothpaste (and voucher) as well as the Palmer's products and the skincare voucher for postnatal skin recovery treats.

3. Boots Parenting Club freebies

Boots breast pads

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Anyone who is pregnant and/or has children up to the age of 5.

What you get from the Boots Parenting Club?

We received the following:

  • 40-pack of Boots breast pads
  • 130ml Mam bottle and soother
  • 500ml Aveeno Baby Limited Edition Daily Care Hair and Body Wash
  • Digital vouchers for free items, discounts and 8 Boots Advantage Card points per £1 spent on baby products
  • Access to Boots Parenting Club expert advice

How to do you sign up for Boots Parenting Club freebies?

You'll need to sign up to the Boots Parenting Club, download the Boots app and also register for a Boots Advantage Card (both free). You can claim the freebies from a Boots store once the virtual vouchers load in your Boots app (this can take up to 3 weeks). Just mention this to the cashier at your local Boots and they will scan your physical or digital card and the offer will be marked as 'used' in the app.

Please note that we went to 5 different Boots in central London and we were still only able to claim the breast pads as the other 2 free items were out of stock. We were told this is most likely due to either the Boots shop we visited being too small or the pandemic having an impact on product availability.

What data do you have to hand over to Boots?

When you download the Boots app and sign up to Boots Parenting Club, you will be asked to provide:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your date of birth
  • Your due date
  • Agreement to Boots' terms and conditions

How useful are the Boots Parenting Club freebies?

All 3 free items are extremely useful, especially considering how generous the sizes of the freebies are (a 40-pack of breast pads and a 500ml AVEENO body wash). It was just a shame that we weren't able to claim them all.

4. Pampers Club freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Pregnant women.

What you get from the Pampers Club?

We received:

  • A downloadable pregnancy guide
  • Access to 6 video guides presented by (US) nurses who are specialists in pregnancy and postnatal care
  • Access via the Pampers Club app to reward points on purchases of Pampers nappies and baby wipes, which you can use to claim discounts and offers on baby and parenting products.

How to do you sign up for Pampers Club freebies?

You can access the pregnancy guide and videos by signing up on Pampers website. To get the reward points on Pampers purchases, you'll need to download the Pampers Club app.

What data do you have to had over to Pampers Club?

When you 'unlock' the pregnancy guide and videos or download the app, you'll be asked to provide:

  • Your first name
  • Your email address
  • Whether or not you are pregnant or a parent
  • Your due date, if you are pregnant
  • Your child's birthdate, if you are a parent
  • Your agreement to Pampers' terms and conditions

You’ll be asked if you want to opt-in to:

  • Regular emails and offers from "partners" (currently from Fisher-Price)

How useful are the Pampers Club freebies?

The guide and videos are quite useful but it's a shame there are no physical freebies to claim straightaway. Instead, you have to wait until you've bought some Pampers nappies or wipes, scanned in the receipts and accumulated enough reward points to claim the coupons and discounts on offer– currently including Photobox gifts and magazine subscriptions.

5. SMA Baby Club freebies

SMA Baby Club

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Pregnant women and parents with babies and toddlers.

What you get from the SMA Baby Club?

  • A welcome pack containing milestone cards (pictured above) that cover your pregnancy and your baby's 1st 1000 days
  • Weekly personalised emails 'to support you from pregnancy to toddlerhood'
  • Access to online tools, such as a baby name generator
  • Free 24/7 advice about babies and feeding from the expert Careline team
  • 'Members-only privileges', including competitions, offers and 'surprises'

How do you sign up to the SMA Baby Club

You can sign up through the registration page on the SMA Baby Club website.

What data do you have to hand over to SMA Baby Club?

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your child's or children's name, gender and date of birth, if you've any children under 3
  • Your due date, if you are pregnant

You’ll be asked if you want to opt-in to receive:

  • Regular emails and offers from SMA Baby Club
  • Information about weaning and Nestle products (excluding infant formula milks)

How useful are the SMA Baby Club freebies?

The milestone cards are very good quality and there are lots of them, which is really nice (we've seen similar milestone cards being sold for quite a price). We haven't received any other 'members-only privileges' yet, though – and suspect these may only kick in once your baby is born.

6. Ella’s Kitchen Friend freebies

ellas kitchen freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Parents with babies who are weaning or about to be weaned into solid food.

What you get from Ella’s Kitchen Friend?

  • A weaning journey map (pictured above) which doubles up as a weaning wall chart
  • A weaning guide with recipes
  • Regular emails with weaning tips and offers
  • 5 coupons for either free or discounted (50p to £1) Ella's Kitchen products

How do you sign up to be an Ella’s Kitchen Friend?

You can sign up through the registration page on the Ella’s Kitchen website

What data do you have to hand over to Ella’s Kitchen?

When you register, you’re required to give:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your child's name
  • Your child's date of birth
  • Answers to 3 questions about your food/cooking choices for your child
  • Yes/no to whether you wish to claim the weaning pack and, if you select yes, your full postal address and postcode
  • Agreement to receive emails from Ella's Kitchen
  • Agreement to Ella's Kitchen terms and conditions

How useful are the Ella's Kitchen Friend freebies?

The wall chart is nice and colourful and the vouchers are great –with brief info about the product you can get on the voucher itself, as well as the age range the product is most suitable for. Do, however, double-check the validity of those vouchers, as a couple of the ones included in our weaning pack would no longer be good to redeem by the time our child would turn the age suggested on the voucher.

7. Beaming Baby nappy packs

Beaming Baby Trial pack

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Parent of babies (or babies-to-be) who use disposable nappies but are looking for a more eco-conscious option.

What you get in the Beaming Baby Trial packs (you can order 2 at once)

  • 2 organic fragrance free baby wipe sachets
  • A Beaming Baby Expert Report on washable and disposable nappies
  • A £5.00 Healthy Start Voucher to redeem against £50 minimum spend on Beaming Baby products

Do note that, although all of the above is free, you'll need to pay £0.99 P&P (this charge only applies once, so if you order 2 packs, it's still £0.99).

How do you sign up to get a Beaming baby Trial pack?

Go to the Beaming Baby website, select the size of the nappies you wish to trial from the dropdown and then proceed to Checkout. You can use the Checkout dropdown to change the number of packs from 1 to 2 at this point.

What data do you have to hand over to Beaming Baby?

You'll also be asked to provide a password to 'create an account' but you can untick this option and still continue to claim you're freebies.

How useful are the Beaming Baby freebies?

We really liked the chance to get some biodegradable nappies for free: it meant we could check out their look and feel without committing to buying a whole pack. We chose the Mini size, which are just the job for sticking in our labour bag!

Other freebies you could claim:

  • Baby on Board badge. Free if you live in Greater London or south-east England. You can order them from Transport for London by completing their online form.
  • NHS Healthy Start vouchers. You can get free vouchers – or money on a pre-paid card every 4 weeks – to buy milk and certain foods, and you can get free vitamins. To qualify, you need to live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland (Scotland runs a Best Start Foods scheme, see below) and either be under 18 or receiving one of the benefits on the Healthy Start eligibility list. To claim your vouchers, you'll need to fill in the online form.
  • Best Start Grant and Best Start Foods (Scotland only). Payments that help towards the cost of pregnancy and parenting. To qualify, you need to live in Scotland and be receiving certain benefits or tx credits (check out your eligibility). To claim, you'll need to fill in the online form.
  • Baby Box (Scotland only). A box filled with baby clothes, bedding and other useful items that comes with a mattress, so you can use the box as a safe place for your baby to sleep. To claim yours, you must fill in a form with your midwife when you are between 18 and 28 weeks' pregnant. You can find out what's in the box on the Parent Club website.

8. My Pura baby wipes freebies

Pura 24 Pack Baby Wipes

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Parents of small babies (or babies-to-be).

What do you get in the Pura baby wipes trial pack?

  • 1 pack of 24 biodegradable Pura wipes
  • 2 compostable potato bags

Do note that, although all of the above is free, you'll need to pay £0.99 P&P. Pura also offer a free eco-nappy pack but, for this ,you have to pay £3.49 P&P, so we're not counting it as a proper freebie.

How do you sign up for a Pura baby wipes trial pack?

Visit the wipes trial pack page on the Pura Baby website and create an account. Then proceed to checkout with the 24-pack of wipes in your cart. You will then be required to make a £0.99 payment for shipping.

What data do you have to hand over to Pura?

In order to get your freebies, you have to make an account with Pura and you're required to give:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your phone number
  • Your payment details (to process the payment of the shipping fees)

You will also be required to create a password to access your Pura account.

How useful are the Pura freebies?

The pack is a good size, and you can never have too many baby wipes! We like that these are biodegradable and plastic-free and the freebie is a good way to try them out and compare them your regular baby wipe brand. It's nice to have a look at a compostable nappy bag, too.

9. Piccolo Family Club freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Parents of small babies.

What you get by signing up to the Piccolo Family Club?

You get access to a free recipe book and meal inspiration, a 25% discount to the Piccolo online store, as well as opportunities to 'save up to £1000 from exclusive Piccolo partners'.

How do you join the Piccolo Family Club?

You need to register on the Piccolo website.

What data do you have to hand over to Piccolo?

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your baby’s birthday or due date (you will be able to add multiple babies if needed)

You will also be asked if:

  • You want to receive Piccolo news and updates
  • You consent to Piccolo sending you 'goodies' in the post
  • You want to receive 'infant feeding advice and information content'

How useful are the Piccolo Family Club goodies?

We wish we knew! We signed up a month ago and nothing has showed up in our physical mailbox just yet, which is why we don't have a picture to show you and which suggests either freebies are quite rare or that they don't kick in until your baby is a certain age. The recipe content is OK and, if you have a weaning baby and you're not whipping up every baby meal from scratch, a 25% discount in Piccolo baby food is not to be sniffed at.

10. Huggies DryNites Pyjama Pants freebies

huggies DryNites freebies

Who are these freebies aimed at?

Parents with children aged 3 years and older.

What you get in a Huggies DryNites Pyjama Pants pack?

  • 1 pair of DryNites Pyjama Pants
  • £1 off coupon

The DryNites Pants are available in a variety of colours and sizes. Ours had Tinkerbell on them (we told them it was for a girl).

How do you get a Huggies DryNites Pyjama Pants Pack?

Go to the special registration page on the DryNites website. Your sample will then be sent to you within a few days.

What data do you have to hand over to Huggies DryNites?

When you register, you will have to provide:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your postal address (including postcode)
  • Your child's date of birth
  • Your child's gender (boy or girl)
  • Your child's age/weight: 3 to 5 (16kg to 23kg); 4 to 7 (17kg to 30kg) or 8 to 15 (27kg to 57kg)

You’ll also have to:

  • Say yes to their terms and conditions
  • Say if you want to opt in to advice on managing bedwetting, as well as going into a prize draw

If you opt in, you’ll then be enrolled into receiving DryNites emails featuring offers, news and information. You can unsubscribe from the emails once the 1st one arrives. (We have to say we haven’t been bombarded with marketing emails since signing.)

How useful are the Huggies DryNite freebies?

It feels like rather a lot of effort and data sharing for just one free pair of night-time nappy pants and a £1 voucher, if we’re being honest. But if you’re not sure about using disposable night-time pants and would like to see how well they work before shelling out for a whole pack, this is great.
